We fell in love with this property! It was spacious, secluded, and had every amenity that you could ever need. The bedrooms were perfect for us, and the beds were so comfy! The hot tub was incredible, the showers had excellent water pressure and we had so much fun staying up late playing the boardgames they had available for us! I loved its proximity to the lake, just a short walk from the cabin - enjoy the sunrise and sunset! This place was so peaceful that we did not want to leave! If you want a secluded getaway in the beautiful Hocking Hills, we absolutely recommend!

We stayed at Chestnut Retreat for Christmas Eve. There was a snow storm the day before and the property was shoveled and salted for our arrival. The inside looks exactly like the pictures listed. We enjoyed our time at Chestnut Retreat!!

Chestnut Retreats was such a beautiful and peaceful pre-Christmas getaway! The house is beautiful with those gorgeous large windows — and the lake is just a short walk from the house. The host even had a Christmas tree— which made our stay even cozier! The home is beautiful and very clean — they’ve thought of all the amenities you’d want!

The host was very communicative and quick to respond to our questions and needs; they checked in with us a few days before to see if there was anything we needed— they really made the effort to make our stay wonderful!

The host isn’t kidding when they mention how important it is to have 4WD/AWD which we did— that driveway is very steep!

We are very glad we stayed and look forward to returning again

We visit different cabin in Hocking Hills every year. This cabin was the cleanest cabin we have ever stayed. The amenities and settings are great. Our kids loved them. Definitely, we would consider coming back to this cabin for next year.

This was a perfect house for our stay at Hocking Hills. The house was very clean upon arrival. The master bed was plenty comfortable and the hot tub was hot. It was close enough to all of the local hikes. If we were visiting the area again we would absolutely consider staying here.

The family enjoyed the hot tub on the front deck, the cozy fireplace in the living room, and the retro gaming systems. Wonderful view of the lake. Quiet, remote location great for relaxing after a long day on the Hocking Hills trails. Bed linens and bathroom towels were nice quality. Keurig in the kitchen wasn't working properly and the property owners addressed the situation right away-- luckily they keep a small coffee brewer in the master bedroom that was a great replacement. The firewood for the fire pit was too damp to burn in the fire pit, but we left money for the wood anyway since they donate the proceeds to a food pantry. Definitely requires AWD/4WD vehicle to make it up/down the steep gravel driveway as the owners mention in their description but totally manageable. We would absolutely recommend this property to a friend!

The layout of the house was perfect for our stay! The property is private but close to the town and other attractions. Needing 4WD is no joke!!! Also no cell service on the property but there is WiFi and a landline so communication isn't difficult. Definitely looking forward to booking a fall trip here sometime

My family and I had a really great time. The house was a home away from home with all the amenities provided and even a few added extras. Enjoyed the much needed family time in the living room, dinners at the dining room table, grilling out on the deck, and smores at the fire. The hot tub was a perfect ending to the evening, as well. The cleanliness was top notch and communication was quick and easy. Very comfortable stay. The entry way to the cabin though is seriously no joke. The AWD is truth. Thank you for the great stay.

The trip was a last minute getaway with my son to visit Columbus family to honor and memorialize my 17 yr old daughter who was killed by a drunk driver in a car accident last September. Hocking Hill was one of her favorites to hike (www. themiaproject.info). I was very pleased with the comfort, cleanliness, amenities, prompt response, superbly stocked extras, the special added dog amenities and the amazing beauty surrounding this property… absolutely zero complaints! Just wish I could have stayed longer. I will definitely recommend this Airbnb and book this property again with all returns to Hocking Hill. Great place to detach! The house had everything we needed including peace of mind. It was quiet, relaxing, and cozy. We weren’t too far from hiking which was big on our list. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed because we like to cook. Even saw a deer yearling suckling on its momma. So beautiful!

We loved our stay here and our time at Hocking Hills! The place was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. If you don't want to totally disconnect, the internet was definitely fast enough for streaming movies. Also, as they mention, 4-wheel drive is a must-have. The road in gets really bumpy and steep in places. Overall, we would definitely stay here again whenever we come back!

Had an amazing weekend. Very happy we brought a car with 4wd drive as the way back isn't super easy without. There is no cell service so if this will be an issue bring a phone that can text and call over wifi. Also fair warning there is no pull-out couch and this place sleeps 6, not 8 because of this. The place is very clean and well stocked with towels and spices. The hot tub works pretty well it was a bit finicky so just watch to make sure it is staying hot. Thank you for a great weekend :)

This is a great cabin in a great location. The unit is pretty new and very well maintained. The whole house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The entertainment system was great and it had the largest collection of DVDs that I have ever seen in a rental. It is surrounded by trees and just a few feet from a lake. The driveway into the house is a little challenging but we had no trouble in our Subaru. The hosts are gracious and the whole stay was flawless. We strongly recommend this unit for a rural stay with all the amenities.

The home is beautiful and very well kept. Cleanliness was second to none. Great views too. They aren't kidding about the driveway. Make sure you have a capable vehicle. It's an uphill curve back to the road. What really sets this place apart, though, are the hosts. We stay in several cabins every year and have had a lot of great experiences. None this good, though. They literally could not be nicer or more helpful. 5 stars doesn't do justice to who they are as hosts and as people. Highly recommend staying with them. They'll take good care of you.

We had such a great stay at Chestnut retreat. We were there to celebrate thanksgiving as a family and certainly made memories playing games, enjoying the hot tub, hiking in hocking hills. It was a great place to celebrate our son’s first thanksgiving!

Fantastic place to stay, very clean and well appointed. We even did the baseboard test to check the cleanliness and they were clean too! The hosts were super responsive and accommodating, quickly providing a pack and play and coffee grinder prior to arrival when we inquired. We have no complaints and would definitely stay at Chestnut again!

They mean it when they say you will need 4 wheel drive, but with it it was easy to get to just interesting to drive when arriving at night. Great communication with the host beforehand in answering questions and getting information. They even had a springform pan we could us while there. Kitchen was decently stocked for cooking/eating and grateful for use of the dishwasher. Did not use the grill, but the hot tub was well maintained. All of us had a good relaxing weekend, though we did not find the dollar mentioned in the other reviews about the dollar game - good luck to the next person in finding it.

This is a lovely home! Very clean, all amenities were as described. With no wifi and no cell service, make sure your maps are downloaded. And the driveway is no joke - very steep and lots of ruts. Our 4wd did fine, but a car would struggle.

Everything we were looking for and more. Perfect getaway for me and my wife. We were able to unplug from the monotony of the day-to-day and focus on quality time!

It was very clean, directions were exact, and everything was up to par, and even though it was rainy, we had plenty of fun!

Yes, the hills are very steep and rocky, also very bumpy. So I wouldn’t recommend “trying” unless you for sure have a vehicle for that terrain. Especially in the winter months.

Plenty of games and movies to choose from! We took our kayaks to the pond to fish. We saw baby ducks, turtles, and deer around the pond. We loved it here!

Our family of four had a wonderful stay. Owners are reasponsive and helped us have a great experience. Access to a small lake, land to hike, and within a short drive to several area features. Wowed by how clean it was, and we are picky. No wifi or cell reception which was great. Ample movies and games to pass time and to keep kids entertained. Comfy king bed upstairs and a full bathroom, and an adjacent room with a full bed. Downstairs a queen bed and another full bath off of the main.living area and kitchen. Nice deck around the back facing the water, and a covered porch for the hot tub overlooking the outdoor fire pit. 4x4 or AWD is a must!

The place was great. Hot tub was good. Beds were comfortable. Host was easy to work with. Check in was super easy. We went when there was lots of snow. Roads were covered in snow. We had 4WD but it wasnt heavy duty enough to make it up. If you are coming when there is snow, plan accordingly.

Please be advised that you should not arrive at this place after dark, the cabin is off a dirt road and up a very steep dirt and gravel driveway. The cabin itself is very nice for the price BUT needs to be updated, and ask for the cabin to be 'aired out ' prior to your arrival. Also, bring your own bedding - sheets, blankets

The cabin was very well kept and the view to the lake was nice. They weren't lying about needing AWD, take it slow! They had plenty of towels which was great because we definitely got use from the hot tub. My only complaint is that there was no soap or shampoo for the showers, but other than that we had a great time and appreciated all the cooking supplies they had to use!

The hill in the driveway leading to the cabin really does need 4 wheel drive! It took some getting used to, but after we left a couple of times it was normal. The cabin is absolutely beautiful. It’s so peaceful on the deck looking out into the woods. The beds are comfortable and it has plenty of towels. There is coffee to get you started and board games for everyone . It has a very family friendly vibe. It’s secluded and there’s hardly any cell service or WiFi, but there’s a landline if you’re desperate. The host is friendly and responds very quickly! Everything was very clean when we arrived . I’d love to visit again!

This place is as amazing as it looks in the pictures. Perfect place for a total get away from everyone and everything. You will enjoy the view over the lake from the balcony and sitting in the hot tub next to the fire pit. Driveway is a bit scary but easily doable with awd or 4 wheel drive.
