Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a meal and also grill out. The kids enjoyed the dvd collection, board games and retro video games. The place was clean and had what we needed. I slept in the biggest room upstairs - the bed was too soft for me, so I tried out the futon. I'm 5'8", and my feet dangled off it. it was more comfortable than the bed, so I made due. We visited in November, so without the foliage, we had a nice view of the lake. without the foliage, also see your neighbors and could even hear their conversations when we sat at the fire. The driveway would be a deal breaker for us ever coming back. A local told us tow companies make more money on this property than anywhere else. it's steeper than pics can show. Neighboring properties don't have such a steep drive. And the advice to just park at the top? Well, easier said than done when you have luggage and supplies along.

My spouse and I found this place to visit the Hocking Hills State Park nearby with our friends (6 adults all together). As it turned out, we made a really good choice. The three bedroom arrangement was comfortable for 3 couples and the kitchen had all that we needed to have fun cooking & eating together. We asked for a gas tank refill for our barbeque and they accommodated our request promptly. The living room was inviting and well-decorated with inspiring photos from the neighborhood. From the time we made the reservation, the host was very clear in communications to make sure we should arrive in AWD/4WD drive vehicles. Once we actually showed up, we truly appreciated their precaution --- the final stretch leading to the place was steeper more than how it looked on the Airbnb photos. We suggest that any new potential guest(s) should consider the AWD/4WD requirement seriously (even in summer time)!

Overall the stay was great! The place was very clean, quiet, and provided games/streaming. The cabin isn't "on" the water as the pictures made us think, but rather it's a short walk down to the lake. The beds were the most comfortable I've slept in from any airbnb, the bathrooms were well stocked, and the owners had very simple and clear instructions inside for anything we needed to know. They also provided great recommendations for local restaurants and activities. The kitchen was well stocked, but the nonstick pans were all scratched and need to be replaced to made cooking a bit more challenging than we'd expected (we notified, hoping that was addressed). The coffee maker is a Keurig, not a regular coffee maker, again may have been something we missed, but definitely good to know in advance. The owners provided several K-cups, but not enough for the level of coffee my family drinks :) However, the provided French Press was great!

What a wonderful place! The house is gorgeous, and has everything you need. Great full kitchen with very nice dinning table. Plenty of room everywhere!! Be sure you heed warnings of 4WD!!! The road into the house is extremely steep and bumpy.

This place was awesome and very close to Hocking hills State Park to do all of the hikes that they offer. definitely need four-wheel drive and I would recommend arriving before dark.

We really enjoyed our weekend getaway. It was so peaceful at this cabin. We spent our nights sitting around the fire simply enjoying nature. It was really helpful, but there was firewood on site that you can use. After a long hike, it was nice to relax in the hot tub. The deck was a beautiful place to enjoy our dinner, and to celebrate a birthday. It was nice not having any cellular service (minus Wi-Fi) to help us truly disconnect and just enjoy our time together. It is important to know that you do you need 4wd to access this location. For those that have cars, there are spot to park down the road or at the top of the driveway. I would definitely stay here again.

Chestnut Retreats has become one of our favorite weekend getaway spots—such a beautiful, relaxing and super clean space to unwind and renew. This visit we brought another couple with us (best friends) to celebrate Heidi’s birthday that weekend. Our hosts were so very thoughtful and had a birthday surprise of wine and cake pops and card on the counter for Heidi— this extra care and thoughtfulness really went beyond — Heidi loved it -made her birthday extra special! From the time I made the reservation until we checked out the hosts we very committed to making our stay a 5-star experience. They knew how much we like to grill and made sure the gas grill had a full tank, they were very communicative, and proactive making sure we knew about and listing all the area activities/restaurants. There’s a lake onsite which my husband enjoys fishing. We enjoyed going to the Hocking Hills Winery (their wine slushies are quite yummy!). Chestnut Retreats is the perfect place to stay!

Chestnut Retreat is a beautiful place to stay! It's just as described! We loved cooking and sitting on the back porch enjoying our meals. The lake was awesome to swim in and all the hiking trails were within 30 minutes of driving. With a nice hot tub waiting for us when we got back! My wife and I would definitely stay here again!

This home is exactly how it is pictured. the home was very clean and comfortable. There is a local park within a couple miles that has nice walking trails. The home is located near Hocking Hills, making this a good choice for anyone visiting the state park.

The house itself was beautiful, but adding the nature into it makes it 10x better. You can walk to a dock from the house, there is so much to do around the house you won’t even want to go do anything else. It was spotless, clean towels and dishes. Overall a 5 star host. If I could give them more, I would.

We had a great stay at Chestnut Retreat. We were staying there for a 21st birthday and it was perfect. They had everything we needed. To make the stay great. An awesome book full of everything any question you might have and also recommendations of food and activities. My only gripe was we paid $5 for a bundle of firewood that the property offers but the wood was wet and it’s 25ish minutes to get to Logan so we didn’t want to drive out to get wood and come. So we didn’t have much of a fire due to the wet wood. We definitely recommend staying here it was very relaxing especially sitting in the hot tub.

The property was exactly as advertised, very clean, big space, hot tub was nice, especially after a long day of hiking the trails. The surrounding area of holding hills was very beautiful and well worth the hikes. Food in the area was disappointing, recommend going to Kroger and cooking for yourselves. Would definitely stay again to get to the trails we didn’t make it to on this short trip!

My college girlfriends and I wanted a get away and this was perfect! The cabin was beautiful and we loved the area and being able to walk around and visit the lake. The movies and video games were a hit! The Brad Pitt picture will forever be a joke for us. 1000% make sure you have four wheel drive. The hosts were fantastic at helping us when we were in a pinch!
